Minnesota Birding Locations

A question that I am commonly asked is how often I go birding. My answer is always this: I’m never not birding. While at any given moment my focus may not specifically be on birds, my senses are constantly tuned to that of the avian world. When I’m driving to the grocery store, I instinctively notice an adult Bald Eagle soaring overhead. When I’m walking around campus, I can hear the two-note “dee-deep” calls of Horned Larks coming from adjacent fields. At this point, you might better describe my birding as a reflex than an activity.

And if I’m always birding, that means I’m birding everywhere I go. That being said, every birder has his or her own favorite places in which to find birds. Click on any of the locations below to learn more about where I like to go birding in Minnesota.
